It's Saturday and I am looking forward to meeting my guest, Miller Piggott, the Executive Director of Alzheimer's of Central Alabama. I knew it was going to be a great day. She was full of vigor and able to provide my audience with pertinent information about her organization, its services, and benefits. Her organization also has an application on their website which is Alzca.org. for caregivers who may qualify for assistance in a variety of ways. Miller Piggott speaks throughout the state of Alabama at various events.
If you have a loved one at home that is showing signs of memory loss, please contact your local Alzheimer's association. They will be able to assist you and taking the necessary steps to help your loved ones obtain the necessary care. Keep listening to The Caregiving Doctor Show. Don't forget, no matter where you are in the world...we have online streaming!
Have a great week!

What a day! I had Myra Wallace from Comfort Home Health and Hospice on my show, The Caregiving Doctor Show. She gave a humorous review about her life in home health after years of experience. We discussed the following:
1. How to qualify for home health.
2. The role of the physician in home health care.
3. How to know when your aging parents can no longer live alone.
4. How patients and caregivers benefit from home health care.
5. Tips on working with the home health team.
Myra Wallace was great! I look forward to having her back soon on my show. As caregivers we need to take every opportunity to ensure that our parents get what they need and to find ways to help ourselves. Keep celebrating National Caregivers Month! If you are interested in a caregiving seminar in your area, contact me through my e-mail or call 1-888-496-8866 or if you are in Alabama, call
1-877-CAREGIVER. Have a groovy day everyone!

What an exciting life I have these days! I launched my radio show on Cox Radio WAGG Heaven 610 AM on Thursday November 12-13, 2009. The my guest was Captain Jim Coker of the Hoover Police Department talking to a new audience about scams. The gave startling information on tricks of the scammer and the Alabama Criminal Code for such crimes. He was engaging and I will surely have him back to talk about crimes for the holiday season! My other guest was Steve Baldwin of Seniors Helping Seniors Organization. A great day and we had several callers asking questions.
Tomorrow we will talking about Home Health Care with Myra Wallace of Comfort Home Health and Hospice here in Birmingham. You can listen on streaming video on both stations by clicking my links. Thank God for family caregivers!

It's time to announce my radio show, The Caregiving Doctor Show! Ready or not, here I come! I can now be heard every Thursday and Friday on Heaven 610 WAGG, and on WERC Talk Radio every Saturday! I am so excited! This is a dream...to be able to educate the world about caregiving! My team and I are working diligently to make it an informative show covering a variety of aging and eldercare topics.
You can listen via live online streaming as instructed on the front page of my website. My first topic is entitled, "Consumer Scams: Preying on Older People!" My guest will be Jefferson County District Attorney Brandon Falls! We will address scams from the victims perspective and an ex-con artist will be in the studio as well. The first show date is November 7, 2009, 4-5 PM. It's a lot of work, but I am passionate about anything that has to do caregiving, and millions of our older people are being scammed every day!
